The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. ShooshI must admit that I find what post people call "parties" pretty boring:-Getting drunk... not fun.-Talking with people who I don't know and who generally have nothing to say... tedious at best.-Listening to whatever discordant noise the studios are pleased to term as "music" this week... suffering.-Hoping that the munchies will be something actually enticing rather than the usual mix of hot wings and potatochips served up besides bowls of salad dressing pretending to be a condiment... sickening, often quite literally.I mean you can get a bit of amusement by viewing the whole thing the way an undercover alien cultural anthropologist would... 'Oh look at the social rituals and mating dances of the primitive Earth primates... how positively primeval.' But even that sort of satirical heckling is only good for a few laughs before it gets old.
