SmalziePart 1So there I was, 5am in the morning CS surfing by myself. All my friends on discord were fast asleep and I was alone in call. Letting my thoughts override me and I could feel myself slipping into a very dark place. I had thought about it a lot before but it hadn’t been as bad as it was that night. Partially one of the reasons why it was so memorable. I was holding on by a thread and the thoughts kept rushing in. One by one they got more depressing and chaotic, my mind became so twisted and for a moment, numb. I didn’t realise I was in a public surfing room till I heard his voice connect. “Yo, sup my man” was his first words. It wasn’t much but it was enough to snap me out of my thought coma and bring me back to reality. Immediately he could detect the emptiness in my voice and I guess it wasn’t hard to tell. It started off slow and it took a while for me to open up but his voice was so comforting and it made me feel warm.2021-06-07 15:45:00

SmalziePart 2It was weird but I didn’t care because it was something better than drowning in my own tears. This man slowly dissected my mental state and as if he was some sort of guardian angel he began to slowly stitch each wound. Of course they would leave scars but no one walks out of a battle unscathed. I couldn’t possible ask for more out of this man, he didn’t owe me anything yet in the span of a few hours I owed him my life. It’s now been 5 years and we talk on the daily. I would never had guessed I would meet someone who would have such a meaningful impact on my life through such a trivial game/platform yet here I sit writing this. To anyone who reads this, if you’ve known this man for 10 years or 10 seconds, heed these words. Keep this man by your side. He is the light in your darkness and he will stick by your side through the thick of it. A true inspiration and a true friend.2021-06-07 15:40:14
