FlamingSomehow i figured out what the deal was with xcom 2 and got it working again. I don't even know how but i'm happy. That said i faced a tough mission. You have to watch out for certain missions. Don't summon an avatar on a hard mission. I did and it didn't end well. Basically using the skulljack on an advent officer and then on that alien that clones itself is rough for the first time of each. Be ready when you do and do it away from other enemies if you can help it.2016-02-13 21:17:17

FlamingK i'm mad. Bunch of ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ too loud about performance issues so right now after i managed to download the whole game for several ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ days and played for a short time it's doing it's same full download all over again. 24.7 GB of a download and 17+ hours at shortest if my computer doesn't stop part way. ♥♥♥♥ you gamers, ♥♥♥♥ you makers of xcom for making it the whole download and ♥♥♥♥ my life.2016-02-10 21:54:42
FlamingI'd say get it on discount. I haven't played for a while and though fun for the most part all the factions ships played similar. It's not like 'Endless Space' or 'Endless Legend' where the units have abilities and are totally different per faction. The specialty weapons you need resources to work are cool but also it forces you into paths somewhat. Big ships are fun and ships with fighters that deploy from them are pretty cool as are other support based ships that improve the fleet and such but i just don't find myself liking it as much as some of the stuff i saw in endless space or endless legend. It's not a bad game but you should really get it on discount. You should get it as soon as possible while the discount is still around.2016-01-03 13:18:21

SupermarineIm working on the cavlary one myself. Harder than I though, considering that I like to balance all my soldiers in case of unexpected casualties. It severely impairs the team, somewhat like army of four. Reduces your options and flexibility.2014-12-08 09:42:22

FlamingMan Dark Souls is kicking my ass. I've invested over 4 hours on the ornstein and the executioner the supposed hardest boss battle in the game. I'm just so tired of it. I finished off ornstein multiple times and in one case nearly won with the executioner at a smidge of health left in super mode. That said i just can't handle it. The main reason for that raid at that precise moment was to prevent some 3-4 countries from leaving the project. FlamingAs far as your guys go now though it's hard to say what to do unless i saw it. It is after all the alien base. I think this is where forumites say, "You've been xcom'ed." It can be a very unforgiving game. Hopefully it hasn't completely screwed you. Normally i'd suggest better troops with higher will to go into this mission.2013-04-08 00:15:27
FlamingNormally when your dudes panic the best thing is to have them in view of at least one enemy. Also i'm not sure if they need to view the guy dying or panicking in order to panic themselves. As far as fighting the aliens goes i generally try to move each guy one of your two action amounts per guy at a time (rather than using up your dashing on a dude unless it's an assault and you know you aren't running into possible hidden death). Usually before you open a door it is best to get your guys to group around the door or multiple doors and go in all rainbow six counter-terrorism style considering enemies in a room stay there unless provoked through a door opening or a whole blasted through their wall since that'd alert anybody (though some c4 charges would make door breaches that much cooler and i have to ask why this game doesn't have them in some form).2013-04-08 00:15:16
SupermarineHmm... what do you do when a stupid misclick makes your best assault soldier bolt inside instead of quietly opening a door? The room being the alien base and 4 chryssalids, 3 drones and 3 sectoids await inside and mince her to pieces. All 5 others on overwatch and miss their shots. One by one, the chryssalids feast on poor soldier until the place is completely splattered with blood. The rest of the squad---all of them---go into frenzied panic shooting teammates and running away. Far, far away.I had forgotten why ironman was so frustrating at times...2013-04-07 16:45:08
SupermarineI've heard some people use SHIVs as mobile cover, but in late game the aliens´s weapons hit so hard that I really doubt this approach might be viable (unless it has lots of hitpoints). About knowing each other, not really, at least not in the real world. We have shared a few comments in screenshots and the steam groups. Any way, good strategy is always welcome.2012-12-25 16:55:11

SupermarineI was wondering if there is actually a good reason for using SHIVs in XCOM. So far, I have never brought one into battle, even though I built one once. FlamingIt only took me like a day or two anyway. In my opinion it's a pretty useless late game talent. I went with the North America base. I think i'll try africa's 'all in' 30% income boost next. At least that is good no matter what. I'll see though. Personally most of the base locations seem pretty useless in my opinion but when i try the game on hard next it should be a good starting area.2012-10-16 16:10:43

FlamingJust played the XCOM: Enemy Unknown demo and i've gotta say it's great but really short. I recommend playing it but it's just a taste of what's to come. You don't really get to see any of your researchable tech finish. Gameplay-wise i had fun and i didn't get to test out what soldier equipment or aesthetic options were available. As i said the demo is short as i finished it in just under an hour. I recommend a playthrough but don't expect it to do much more than excite you for the full game.2012-09-25 19:29:52
