It varies on thickness in terms of plastic used. I think I just got basic ones. Dr. Philthhttps://www.discogs.com/ It is the best website for vinyl. You can buy vinyl or sell vinyl of any kind there. Also tapes and CD's as well. But I mainly use it to keep track of my albums and the specific pressing I own. Each record has a unique code (made up of numbers and letters) attached to it. Usually on the spine of the record. Just search for that code in Discogs and that will pretty much tell you what version of the record you have. You can also see it etched on the record itself between the grooves and the center label. Dr. PhilthSure, it depends on how much you want to spend. If you do not care about potentially scratching the record than the cheapest option is best but if you want a really good entry level turntable, I would recommend an Audio-Technica AT-LP120. You can find them from 200-300 dollars (used-new). It can be pricey but if you want high-end gear, you could be paying well over a thousand. Stanton is also a reliable brand. basically, look for what is called a "weighted tone arm". That and a full platter for the record to sit on. Crosley is a cheap brand that you can listen to records with but they will eventually destroy your records with their cheap parts. Hope this helps.
