I will not say that this did not happen in the first game, but it did happen less and with less surprise. Research adds more resources and tech options, but none of them deliver a better experience, the extra research is just more for mores sake, not to actually add more thought. The same happens with resources, where again more of the same does not add variety. The different encounters and how you have to balance against them can be real punishing by factors you can not control yourself. It is mitigated in the first game by its reliance on only health, but when you have 2 extra stats, and you can not predict whether the upcoming foe is going to smash your health or sanity, you go into instant lose situations. part 12022-05-13 18:09:54
