ExcessAh, it's alright. I tracked down the update, it was included in an old CZ campaign! Works great now. If you don't have the fixed files and want them, I'd be happy to send them over discord or something. Otherwise, it's a great fix and the nav mesh fixes the annoying ladder bug. One of my favorite maps.2021-01-17 00:22:38
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelThere was some sort of issue with the way that I edited the entries in the BSP file for the curtains fix. Someone (I can't remember who) found a fix for the issue, but unfortunately I can't remember who it was or what the fix was. Sorry about that.2021-01-16 23:41:28
ExcessHi Rich, added you to ask a question about your cs_747 curtains fix. It seems to be outdated, the game boots to menu after trying to load the map2021-01-16 14:53:42
Rich ¥Weeds¥ Nagel"CS:GO has won the 2020 Labor of Love Steam Award" - BREAKING NEWS: Steam gives itself an award! In other news: RichNagel gives Rich Nagel an award... CONGRATS!2021-01-03 13:27:24
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelA 2.2GB "update" from Steam/Valve for CSGO, and OF COURSE the BASIC features of creating a listen server or the ability for friends to join your privately hosted game STILL DOES NOT WORK. STEAMingPileOf$hit! #KissMyEntireAss !2020-12-03 17:11:56
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelI'm sorry, but the only clanwar configs that I have on my PC are the ones mentioned in my guide.2020-06-09 04:31:37
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelWow, INsane... that guide looks REALLY GREAT! The videos are really helpful :)2020-01-08 10:06:19
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelThanks, INsane! :)2019-11-13 21:52:33
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelSounds good :)2019-10-10 13:23:40
INsane [dodbits]Glad you like it. The manual will get more edits when the maps (1 to go dod_zalec) are finished. cvar section to come, and I will update your waypointing guide and add any new tricks (like bazooka methods) so its completed. http://sturmbot.org/index.php/sturmbot-tutorials/strumbot-waypoint-tutorials/88-the-updated-sturmbot-waypoint-tutorial-by-rich-weeds-nagel It will still have your name on it of course !It was very useful in this last review, I referred to it often, really appreciated the work on the .dll and that manual.I let you know about any significant updates when they roll around.2019-10-07 21:24:25
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelLooking REALLY GOOD! The edited DoD manual is EXCELLENT, as are the new waypoints and bazooka fixes! :)2019-10-07 05:56:06
INsane [dodbits]Continued... This is part of the Sturmbot site upgrade and upgrading a Sturmbot download using your version 1.9 dll. I'll get on to that next. There are fixes for dod_jagd and a couple of others to work correctly. Also unearthed was a stack of dod folder files that prevent the bazookas spawning correctly, I have a fix for that as well. http://sturmbot.org/index.php/downloads/download/14-day-of-defeat-game-file-configs-and-fixes/40-missing-bazooka-in-spawns-fix2019-10-07 05:02:30
INsane [dodbits]This may interest you Rich, I started to update the waypoints for Sturmbot, its part of doing an unofficial manual for day of defeat that includes Sturmbot issues and fixes. . http://sturmbot.org/index.php/dod-turtorials/day-of-defeat-player-guides/90-day-of-defeat-manual As I went along I updated a few myself and also found a waypointer Martee that was doing the same thing, he had a few in the review already and recently (last night) did all the rest of the standard dod maps. He now has an updated set for all of them http://sturmbot.org/index.php/downloads/category/13-single-waypoints-checked-in-20192019-10-07 05:02:10
INsane [dodbits]Just going through the Sturmbot version history Rich, its quite a tangled web.I am still editing the website article but I think I have most of the story now, the intent is what versions were there and what is the best match for the various dod versions going... all the way back. http://sturmbot.org/index.php/dod-turtorials/90-day-of-defeat-about-the-game/84-day-of-defeat-versions This will help sort the waypoints, some waypoints in the later releases have dod_alps in there from dod version 1.1.Now that's too old I'm enjoying this.2019-08-14 05:49:50
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelSounds good :)2019-08-13 11:18:45
INsane [dodbits]Thanks old friend... I can say that cause I'm likely older :)I checked my installs and noted your dll isn't in there... it will be soon.I thought I changed that... oops.702 known waypoints... I have started to sort them, 107 of them are from pre 2003, ones like that have all sorts of possible issues and should be in older packs.A matter of elimination by various methods. It will take a while but hey... it's what I do.There are still active mappers / waypointers out there look here... https://dayofdefeat.home.blog/sturmbot/ https://dayofdefeat.home.blog/maps/ Going to give them a go.2019-08-13 02:15:02
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelP.S. The SturmBot v1.9 update -> http://sturmbot.org/index.php/downloads/download/2-sturmbot-for-steam-packages/16-sturmbot-v1-7-stosstruppe-and-scharfschuetze-bot-class-fix-sturmbot-v1-9 , that's the corrected and latest one :)2019-08-12 18:14:06
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelYeah, the SturmBot v1.9 was the last one that I had edited, that would be the one that you would want to include :) As far as waypoints, I don't know of anyone that has a checked good set of ones, not sure if I would be any help as far as that.2019-08-12 18:10:23
INsane [dodbits]Hi Rich, I was amazed I had never added you as a friend! After a long break from maintaining my websites I got back in and trying to upgrade dodbits.com and sturmbot.org .I just realised I am not using your edited sturm_BOT.dll in my some of my downloads. Fixing that as that should be the top .dll version for SturmBot ... am I right in saying that? Also, waypoints. Now in the pack for version 1.7 I know of three that had bad waypoints, dod_glider I fixed myself and two others here... http://sturmbot.org/index.php/downloads/category/7-sturmbot-waypoints Question is... who does have a good set of checked waypoints? I think it is way past time to assemble a updated pack that works best for steam dod 1.3. But whoa... there are about 700 waypoints to go through... can you help?2019-08-10 20:40:13

NosAye, came here from a post you made in 2014 to change the steam popup's location in the screen.Just wanted to say, thanks!2017-07-05 11:35:56
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelI would normally be quite happy to help out. Unfortunately though, my DSL internet is extremely slow... it would take me litterally a week to upload all of the GCF files. That being said, note that if you do actually find a download for the GCF files, you will STILL need an older version of the Steam client... as the newer versions in the past 2 yesrs or so does NOT support the GCF files. AFAIK the newer versions of the client won't even read or load them.2017-03-29 02:17:25
Solid Snake <BaTz>Good day sir - found your input on this post (https://steamcommunity.com/app/70/discussions/0/828934913113943429#c828934913117317067) . Those links, however, are long dead. For those of us without original CDs or pre-2013 backups of their Steam folders, would you consider helping the community and posting the GCFs and/or \steamApps\[gamename] folders as a torrent or such?2017-03-27 14:39:14

Senses Working OvertimeHello i was lead tester with Johan Linde at SturmbotVery intresting find the bsp tool but i would advise caution some versions of sturmbot have a waypoint bug around 850 upwards that breaks waypoint2016-09-22 02:05:24
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelI must have missed your message, Butane, as I just now saw it. Glad you got it working though :)2016-09-20 22:35:00
ButaneNevermind dude, I got it working! Thanks a bunch. You should make a Quake II Steam guide explaining how to do it. If I get bored I'll probably make it myself and credit you/link to your original posts. Thanks again!2016-09-03 13:44:23
ButaneSup man.. I found this older topic http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3200019&goto=nextnewest where you explain how to enable the ALT+TAB feature in windows under Quake 2. Was wondering if you could give me a few more details about how to add it. Thanks2016-09-03 13:30:48

XeotroidOh, snap, that's some nice music! I can imagine it being used in some RPG of some kind, but not so dark like Hexen, more like Morrowing or Oblivion. I can see your point of it not being fit for Daedalus, too.The only problem is that the limits of soundfonts make it sound... well, soundfont-ish. Orchestras or percussion are usually fine with these, but solo instruments and guitars sound really wacky with any soundfont (no legato, no release samples, no round robin, etc.)... By the way, I checked on yours and it's pretty damn good, especially considering how little samples it uses (when I tried making a soundfont, it had 181 MB at 13 instruments...), but it still is a soundfont. Though, I can't imagine a synthesizer automatically playing MIDI files through Kontakt libraries. :DThanks for all this, it's some really interesting stuff. :)2015-07-02 18:07:21

Rich ¥Weeds¥ Nagel(Part 3 of 4)>>>>>If so, is there a version like this of the tracks used in Daedalus or a MIDI file of the track you sent me?<<<<<All of the Daedalus MIDI files embedded in the WAD are identical byte-for-byte to the ones that I have. That being said, shoot me an email to [email protected] , and I'll send you a ZIP with all of the RealismX MIDI files (including that Facebook video) :)2015-07-01 04:57:24
Rich ¥Weeds¥ Nagel(Part 2 of 4)>>>>>but it's quite a small amount for an entire megawad with hubs and I noticed your description of 6 other tracks (7 if you count Darkness Before the Rising) in the comments.<<<<<Like I said above, many of them didn't quite fit the theme of a DOOm addon. The small amount that was used for Daedalus was because I was going through some health issues at the time, and couldn't compose any new songs... so I simply recycled a few from RealismX that sounded appropriate for a DOOM addon :)>>>>>Also, is the track you sent me made as a MIDI file like the others but played through some really good synthesizer instead of General MIDI?<<<<<That is the original MIDI, synthesized through my Sound Blaster Live, along with my own custom soundfont "¥Weeds¥ General MIDI SoundFont v3.0" -> http://www.richnagel.net/#soundfonts :) P.S. Interim update for the soundfont to v4.0 is here -> http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com/snor/weeds/SoundFonts/WeedsGM4_Update.zip .2015-07-01 04:57:15
Rich ¥Weeds¥ Nagel(Part 1 of 4)>>>>>The story behind this is a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. Or maybe I just like reading composers' notes...<<<<<Glad you liked it :)>>>>>I must say that the order is a bit different than I would imagine it<<<<<I didn't organize the order of them... IIRC, Ty Halderman did when he was assembling the final build.>>>>>Why were so many tracks cut from Daedalus, anyway?<<<<<I had a total of 19 songs that I composed for the RealismX project, but most of them were too "pretty" sounding to fit a DOOM addon <grin>.2015-07-01 04:57:07
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelHehe, 1000 characters or less... a TOTAL PITA, and quite "Twitter-ish" LOL!2015-07-01 04:56:55
Xeotroid(Part 2)Why were so many tracks cut from Daedalus, anyway? Those 7 tracks are fine for one hub (back when it was Doom2000, instead of a sequel to Icarus), but it's quite a small amount for an entire megawad with hubs and I noticed your description of 6 other tracks (7 if you count Darkness Before the Rising) in the comments. Even though most of them are a different genre completely, Seasons Changing sounds like it might fit well in the moody selection of the other tracks. Also, is the track you sent me made as a MIDI file like the others but played through some really good synthesizer instead of General MIDI? If so, is there a version like this of the tracks used in Daedalus or a MIDI file of the track you sent me? Thanks :)2015-06-30 06:52:50
Xeotroid(Part 1, I love that 1000 char. limit!)Wow, that's quite a lot of text! :D The story behind this is a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. Or maybe I just like reading composers' notes...I must say that the order is a bit different than I would imagine it - the credits theme sounds like a giant final boss fight, the intro music sounds like something for a main menu and the main menu theme fits more nicely to a regular level, though that's probably because I'm used to the way it's placed in Daedalus (even though I didn't finish even the first hub... :D).2015-06-30 06:52:41
Rich ¥Weeds¥ Nagel(continued)PrimalSoft was in it's infancy at the time, and unfortunately the project (code named "Project: RealismX") went belly-up (along with the company) in the second quarter of 1999 and was never finished or released.I was having some issues back when "Daedalus: Alien Defense" was being developed, so I decided to use the previously composed pieces for that project... seemed like a good idea at the time, as I really HATE to let a good MIDI composition go to waste <grin> :)P.S. If you're interested, here's another ("Darkness Before the Rising (Opus 1)") from the PrimalSoft "RealismX" project that didn't make it into the final cut of the "Daedalus: Alien Defense" project -> https://www.facebook.com/RFNagel/videos/10203908226923774 :)2015-06-30 05:07:40
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelHi Xeotroid,As promised, here is the list :)WAD Name = Original MID = Title-------------------------------MM_01.MID = CREDITS.MID = "Credits"MM_02.MID = DUST1.MID = "Dust to Dust (Opus 1)"MM_03.MID = DUST2.MID = "Dust to Dust (Opus 2)"MM_04.MID = MAINMENU.MID = "Main Menu"MM_05.MID = DEATH.MID = "Death Becomes"MM_06.MID = INTRO.MID = "Intro Sequence"MM_07.MID = TRIBAL.MID = "Tribal Hunt"Why the weird titles and original filenames?Explanation:These were some pieces that I had "recycled" for the "Daedalus: Alien Defense" project. Originally I had composed them back in 1998 for the commercial/retail PC game "Curse of Pyragon: Fabled Land", by the (long-since gone) software company "PrimalSoft" ( https://web.archive.org/web/19990208015715/http://www.primalsoft.com ).2015-06-30 05:07:28
Rich ¥Weeds¥ NagelHi Xeotroid,Give me a day or so... I have to refresh my memory on 'what is what' with the Daedalus: Alien Defense soundtrack. It's been a while <grin> :)There are a total of 7 songs in the mod, some may be recycled from other DOOM addon soundtracks that I have previously composed. I'll have to give them a re-listening-to to figure out what they were.BTW, your covers sound great! :)2015-06-28 11:26:16
XeotroidYou made the soundtrack for Daedalus: Alien Defense mod for Doom, right? Do the tracks have official names or something like that? I made some covers but I don't want to call them "MM_01" etc. Thanks! :)If you want to check the covers, here are links: https://youtu.be/qpiIsWxJ9uw https://youtu.be/a9OyUNrLioE2015-06-28 09:09:25
