LucidThe greatest hurdle you're going to have to transverse is getting that first lucid. You'll tell yourself it's not worth it after the first couple of fails, but hang in there. Two weeks for my first one, and I was writing every dream down, and getting up for two R.E.M cycles a night. A benefit, btw, to dream journaling is that it'll make your dreams longer and more vivid just because you're paying attention to them. LucidA W.I.L.D is extremely hard to do for someone who hasn't even had their first lucid yet. BUT since you're trying so hard to get lucid, you could get lucky and get a D.I.L.D. Next time you try, let yourself drift right up until the point that it feels dangerous to let yourself drift any longer for fear of falling asleep.Don't try to stay awake, it's better to anchor a reminder. What I mean by that is, once you find yourself on the verge of sleep (It'll feel like you don't care about trying anymore) you should start counting with the intention to stop every 25-50 numbers to tell yourself "I'm going to dream soon, I am going to go lucid" then continue counting for another 25-50 numbers and just repeat until you fall asleep. If you're lucky, that reminder anchor will trigger after you disconnect momentarily. You'll be weightless or you'll see hypnagogic imagery, you might vibrate, etc. Sometimes you might just already be in a dream, fully conscious.2013-02-05 10:06:39
LucidYou go through the R.E.M cycle roughly every 90 minutes, and they increase in length as the night goes on. The ideal cycle to aim for is 4 hours and 30 minutes into sleep or 5:30-6 hours into sleep. LucidFirst thing you need to do is start setting the alarm clock to wake you up when you're in/near R.E.M sleep. You have to find the sweet spot, this technique is hard and out of the 6 years i've been practicing the art, i've only had three W.I.L.D's.It's Insane feeling going from awake to dreaming. I had a feeling you'd want to go with WILD first, which might not be a good idea until you've had a legit lucid(one you've done something in). Another thing is, don't focus on getting to sleep paralysis. That's the number one mistake of someone trying to perform a W.I.L.D. It's more about setting an anchor(a conscious reminder) Its kind of like letting your mind slip away but right at the last moment, you don't give in.
