Skipping stones at the water hole Calvin asked me if he'd ever get a little brother to skip stones with. I said, "Well you're 45 and I'm approaching 80. Lidia's spread being what it is these days, I think it's highly unlikely." Looking down with a sad face Calvin offered a whimper of acknowledgement. I looked up across the water hole to the hill where our house stands. In the distance you could just make out Lidia's shape on the balcony. Last Summer I promised to make a ramp from the balcony all the way to the water hole so she could come and watch Calvin skip stones too, but it was only two weeks later we found out I have Weak Knee and scrapped the idea.
